Singer, Bernard age 87, formerly of Minneapolis, MN passed away April 17, 2014 in Mount Dora, FL. He was born in St. Paul, MN, May 18, 1926. Bernie is preceded in death by son, Robert Drew. He is survived by wife, Vivienne; daughters, Janet (Allen) Kaplan, Connie (Charles Orton) Singer; grandchildren, Andy Orton, Ayla Stern, Shirit Gold, and Rayi Stern. After Bernie returned home from the war he continued his studies to complete his undergraduate degree was able to earn a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul while raising a family. He practiced law for eighteen years in Minneapolis. He was the Assistant Chief Administrative Law Judge for the state of Minnesota for six years in charge of all the hearings for the State Utilities Commission, OSHA, and the Dept of Transportation, traveling around the state. In 1980, he received a United States Administrative Law judgeship and was chief judge of central California for the Dept of Health and Human Services until 1996. In 1996, he transferred to Tampa where he was chief judge of the Social Security Office of Hearings and Appeals until he retired in 2003. Bernie was a passionate amateur photographer and enjoyed teaching pickle ball & lawn bowling.
