Herkenhoff, Joan Vivian (nee Regan) Joan passed away peacefully on April 6th 2014, in Eden Prairie, at 'LuAnn's Place' at the age of 85, formerly of north Mpls. Joan was born in Mpls. to James E and Myrtle (Sather) Regan on September 12th, 1928. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, sons Stephen and Kevin, sisters Jeanette Regan, Kathleen Wickland and Majorie Snyder. She is survived by her son, James (Linda) and daughter, Mary Jo Cosio (Fernando), 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and brother, James (Margie) Regan. She enjoyed gambling, crocheting and making cookies and cherry nut bread. Aside from her children and grandchildren, and all the stories and advice she shared with them, Joan's legacy is the seeming mass production of hand-crocheted afghans for several decades; perfectly symmetrical rows of matching stitches centered by a geometric floral pattern. There's no way to obtain an official count, but it's safe to say that a significant number of toes, laps and babies are being kept warm through Joan's gift of crochet. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 5155 Emerson Ave No, Mpls. at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 26th, 2013. Reviewal at church 1 hour prior to mass. Private interment at Fort Snelling at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the "U of MN Foundation". In memo line write "Kevin Herkenhoff Memorial Scholarship #7447"; Send to: McNamara Alumni Center; 200 Oak St SE, Suite 500; Mpls, MN 55455. Washburn-McReavy.com Glen Haven Chapel 763-533-8643
