Nichols, Terence L. Age 73, of Cottage Grove, passed away April 12, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Graduate of Edina High School and University of Minnesota (1966). Terry was the co-owner of Nichols and Hines waterproofing Company from 1971-1982. He did graduate studies in theology at Marquette University, 1982-1988. From 1988 to 2014 he was professor of Theology at the University of St. Thomas, and was Chair of the Theology Dept. from 2002-2006. He also founded and was co-director of the Muslim Christian Dialogue Center at the University of St. Thomas. He lived with his family in Cottage Grove from 1975 to the present, in an octagonal house that he designed and built. His publications include That All May Be One: Hierarchy and Participation in the Church (1997); The Sacred Cosmos (2003); and Death and Afterlife: A Theological Introduction (2010). Terry is survived by his wife, Mabel; children, Theresa, Michele (John) Cella, and Peter; grandson, Anthony Schreder; sister, Gaydon Peck; nephews, David and Jerry Wilferd; and niece, Bonnie Wilferd. Visitation 4-8 PM, Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park and continues one hour prior to the mass at church. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM, Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at The Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas in St. Paul (located on Cleveland Ave. approx. two blocks north of Summit Ave., between Ashland and Laurel).
