Jean Rice

Rice, Jean 79 of Edina, Minnesota died peacefully on March 25, 2014 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, William L. Jacobson, Inga Hagen Jacobson and two infant brothers, Richard and William. Jean graduated from Bismarck High School (1952) in Bismarck, ND and the University of North Dakota (1956) in Grand Forks, ND. On July 5, 1958 she married Edwin G. Rice. She worked as a teacher, homemaker and was an early writer of computer textbooks for children in the 1970’s. She is survived by Edwin; son Stuart of Rapid City, SD, son Brian of Denver, CO, his wife Anna and three grandchildren, Emelie, Everett and Emerson. The Rices would like to specifically thank Patty Johnson and Faye Jacobson for their dedication and assistance as well as offer special appreciation to the staff of English Rose Suites of Minnetonka and North Memorial Hospice of Brooklyn Center for their compassionate care. A funeral service in her honor will be held at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins, Minnesota at 2 PM on Thursday, April 3. 2014. Visitation 1 hr prior to service.
