Cornell, Richard E. "Rick" age 66 of St. Paul, died on March 4th, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ. Rick was born on 4/25/ 1947 in Northfield, MN. He graduated from Northfield High School in 1965 and received his degree in Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Minnesota in 1972. He retired in 2011 as managing partner of the CPA firm Cornell, Kahler, Shidell & Mayer. Rick served terms as President for both the MN Society of CPAs and the MN Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. As an avid golfer he also gave his time to serve on various committees throughout his years as a former member of Dellwood Hills Country Club and current member of Town and Country Club. For the past twenty-five years he always looked forward to the monthly meetings with his dear friends and pals in the High Flyers Investment Club. In addition to playing golf with his many buddies, he also enjoyed this sport with his best friend and wife, Deb. Rick treasured the many hunting trips with his son, son-in-law, brother and fellow hunting buddies for pheasants and/ or ducks. He celebrated every May by going to Canada with his "Fishhead" buddies in search of the trophy walleye. His love of the outdoors was shared with Cathy and David through the YMCA Indian Princesses and Indian Guides program where they all learned to appreciate wildlife and being together. However, Rick's favorite pastime over the past 10 years was being a loving Papa to his precious grandchildren; Max, Sophie, Finn and Nate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin (Bubs) Cornell & Lorraine (Thompson) Cornell, and Survived by Deborah Cornell (nee Allyn), his beloved wife of 46 years; children & grandchildren, his daughter Cathy & husband Scott and their two children Sophie and Nate all of Denver, CO; and his son David and his two children Max and Finn of St. Paul, MN; brothers & sisters, Bob Cornell of Burnsville, MN and his sons Tyson and Stephen; Jim Cornell (Martha) of Minneapolis, MN and their daughter Jakelle and husband Rob; John Cornell of Rochester, MN; Mary Cornell of Cloquet, MN and her sons Andy and Matt; & Anne Cornell Marsland (Charlie) of Oneida, NY and their son Max.
