Quast, Sharon Elizabeth Dodds age 70, of St. Louis Park, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 of complications of multiple myeloma. Survived by devoted husband of almost 32 years, Louis Quast; cherished daughters, Jessica Isabel and Louisa Jane (Kevin) Quast- Lynch; granddaughter, Eleanor Quast- Lynch; sister, Roseann (John) DeZelar, as well as three half-sisters, Anna (Rick) Turek, Mary Kay Buskala, and Janet Buskala. Preceded in death by her parents, Raphael Henry and Mary Jane Dodds of St. Paul. She will be remembered for her loyalty and generosity to her friends, her love and devotion to her family, and her determination and perseverance to fulfill her educational and career goals. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and St. Mary's School of Nursing, then earned both her B.S. in Nursing and Master's in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. She spent most of her career as a nurse educator in both Pediatric and Psychiatric nursing, first at Fairview Deaconess School of Nursing, and more recently in the undergraduate nursing program at the University of Minnesota. Over the years, she touched the lives of hundreds of student nurses, inspiring them by showing respect and compassion for patients, especially people struggling with mental illness. Your gift in Sharon's honor will help future students develop into caring, compassionate professionals. Sharon wished to thank all who helped her over these last 8½ years: her husband Lou and daughters Louisa and Isabel, at her side throughout her illness; many close friends, including the "birthday group"; and other dear friends, family, church community members, and health professionals who made her journey easier. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 2nd at 4:00 pm at First Universalist Church, 3400 Dupont Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55408. Private burial at Lakewood Cemetery.
