Thompson, Nicholas Patrick "Nick" Age 36, of Mpls. Passed away accidentally on 6/4/16. Cherished son of Tim & Debbie Thompson. Survived also by sisters Tracy and Danielle, nephew Kian, fiancee Laura Phelps, grandmas Patty Thompson and Rhoda Streeter, cousins Jake, Joe, Emily, Joey, Patrick, Ryan, Colin, Rachel, Amii, Matt, Jessica, Adam, Christi and Katie. Many more relatives, friends and co-workers. Nick's passion for computers began as a young boy and blossomed into his life's work. Nick loved his career as a Linux specialist at Comtrol, Inc. His work with computers reached many people worldwide. We will never grasp all the ways he contributed to his various online communities. Nick's love of music led him to create his own record label "Blood of the Young Records". He brought the joy of music to so many people. As a close friend said, "He's still there in the music. If you listen just right you can hear him." Special thanks to the staff at HCMC, especially MICU nurses Kim and Mike. Thanks to all Nick's friends and family who came to the hospital in a tremendous show of love and support. Nick leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, love and joy. He continued giving after his death by donating his organs and tissue. His heart beats on. Memorial service Friday, July 1 at Wayzata Community Church, 125 Wayzata Blvd. E. 12:00 gathering of friends, 1:00 service with lunch to follow at the church. Memorial tribute concert Saturday, July 9 at First Avenue Club, 701 1st Ave. Mpls. Memorials preferred to the Nicholas P. Thompson Foundation.
