Simonson, James "Jim" 86, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away at his home in NE Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Jim was born on February 5, 1930 to Floyd and Lois (Smith) Simonson in Eau Galle, WI. The family moved to Eau Claire in 1945. In 1947 Jim enlisted in the US Air Force. After 3 years of dedicated service, Jim returned and married his wife Betty (Hestekin) on July 28, 1951. Together they had three boys. Jim moved the family to Minneapolis in 1959 and was employed at Graco for 33 years. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter; deer hunting with his brothers was always the highlight of the year. He also enjoyed camping, listening to polka music and taking trips out west to the mountains. Every week, Jim would meet with friends down at Mayslack's for a soda and conversation. Jim is survived by his three sons, Bruce, Keith (Dawn) and Brian (Lori); granddaughter Amanda (Shane); and great granddaughter Layla; his siblings, Dorothy, Darlene, Robert (Jeanne), Betty (Dave), Dennis, several nieces & nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; siblings, Darrel, Kenny, Rosemary and Delbert. A memorial service for Jim will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 West Clairemont Ave., Eau Claire.
