Bohn, Herbert ("Al") Herbert "Al" Bohn, age 91, of Edina, MN and formerly of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on May 31, 2016. He was preceded in death by parents Carl and Hilda, brothers Ben and Fred, and his loving and beloved wife of 54 years, AlVerne Grefsheim Bohn. He is survived by son Dennis Bohn, daughter and son-in-law Karen Bohn and Gary Surdel, and son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Sandy Bohn; grandchildren Peter Surdel (Caroline Camic), Matthew Surdel (Kelly Garcia), and Caroline Bohn; sister Evelyn Groff; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Al was born on October 3, 1924 in rural Dresden, ND. He served in the United States Army during World War II and spent the remainder of his career as a Conductor with the Great Northern Railway and the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was active in his church and community and was known for the bountiful flow of banana bread, lefse, and Christmas cookies from his kitchen. Through his final days, he was an attentive, devoted, and proud father and grandfather. He will be remembered for his jovial and playful sense of humor, his selfless generosity, and his deep, constant, and obvious love for his family and friends. Funeral service Saturday 11 AM, preceded by a visitation at 10 AM, both at Calvary Lutheran Church, 6817 Antrim Rd., Edina, MN. Memorials preferred to Calvary Lutheran Church or your local humane society or animal shelter.
