Pettes, Roberta Gay Born 2/20/50 at Swedish Hospital in Mpls to parents, Robert and Gladys Pettes. Known at Bert to her dearest friends, Pat, Brad, Joyce, Georgia, Torah, Denny, Dian, Katie, Bitty, and Robbie, she flashed her last peace sign 5/30/2014. A bonified hippie she pay tribute to her beloved city of Mpls with landmarks she will miss: Shinders, Lincoln Dell, Cooper Theater, Riverside Cafe, The Depot, Moby Dicks, Viking Bar, Bryn Mahr, Kenwood, The Wedge, St. Anthony Falls, The Great Northern, Kaplan's, Jack and Mona's, Woolworths, Daytons, The Nankin, Charlies, The Curtis Hotel, Westminster, Mpls Floral, Byerlys, Pracna, Lunds, Highwood Drive, Aquatennial Parades, Lyndale Garden, Gay 90's, Bachman's, Lake Calhoun, Zapatas, Seward and Longfellow, Franklin Ave and Vinyls from the Wax, touring Europe with her family in her senior year, visiting Haight-Ashbury in the summer of love, protesting the Vietnam War and the Watergate Scandals, distracted her ambitions of graduating from the University of Minnesota's CLA program. Her love of nature, puppies and plants landed her jobs at the "Pound" and as a "Plant Lady" with a plant leasing company. Hollywood and movies were her passion, an avid movie goer to Hopkins, Suburban World, Uptown, and Lagoon Theaters, TCM was her channel of choice. She amassed over 700 movie titles in her VHS/DVD collection. At age 9 she strapped her transistor radio to the handlebars of her Schwinn to pick motown sounds. At 14 she joined Beatlemania, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, CSN NY, CCR, The Who, The Greatful Dead followed. Soul in the '70s. She liked folk, Bob Marley, Black Uhuru and Prince. Preceded in death by mother, Gladys Hudson in 2012. She is survived by loving father, Bob (Gwen) Pettes of Parkville, MO; sister, JoAnne (Bob) Brown of Slidell, LA; brother, Douglas (Sally) Pettes of Overland Park, KS; step father, Forrest Hudson, formerly of Grandview, MO; aunt, Eva Jean (Bob) Pratt of Sun City West, AZ; nephews, Jake and Ryan Pettes; nieces, Tina, Nita and Sonja; cousins, Linda (Bruce) Zimmerman of Shoreline, WA, Terryl (Mark) Anderson of Bloomfield, NJ, D'Anne Meyers of Liberty Lake, WA; half sisters, Elizabeth and Cynthia of Loveland, CO; great nieces and nephews.
