Caris, William E. Our dearly loved Bill, age 94, died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 19, 2016 at Methodist Hospital. Bill lived at Summit Place in Eden Prairie, MN; formerly of Mount Pleasant, IA; Fairfield, IA; Albert Lea, MN; Burnsville, MN and Bella Vista, AR. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Ruth Elaine (Lawrence) Caris, married September 13, 1944. Loving father of Michael Caris (Deborah), Connie Boyd (David), Timothy Caris (Jane); grandchildren: Jason, Jeffrey (Christine), Joshua (Stacey), Jonathan (Melissa), Jennifer, Alex (Krista), Doug and Emma and seven great-grandchildren. Bill received his BA degree from Iowa Wesleyan College, MA degree from the University of Iowa. He was a US Navy Aviator and served in active duty from 1943-1946. Bill was a lifetime teacher and coach, a profession that he embraced whole-heartedly. Coach Caris was beloved by students, athletes, parents and coaches alike. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM on Thursday, May 26 at Washburn-McReavy, 5000 W 50th St, Edina, MN, 952-920-3996. Visitation will precede funeral at 1 PM. Reception to follow at funeral home. Burial services 11 AM on Saturday, May 27 at Forest Home Cemetery, 1201 North Broadway Street, Mount Pleasant, IA. Luncheon to follow at Jerry's Restaurant, Mt Pleasant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lions Club International, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or National T.T.T. Society.
