Roelofs, Ronald Henry 82 years old from Mound, Minnesota and Marco Island, Florida, left his earthly home on Tuesday, May 10 at 5:25 p.m. in Marco Island with his family at his side. In 1958, Ron was driving ambulance and upon arrival at the hospital, he saw a beautiful lady sitting by the reception desk. He turned to his partner and said "I'm going to marry that lady" and he did just that. Ron leaves behind his forever love and wife of 57 years, Jackie. Their love for one another grew stronger with each and every year. He is also survived by his daughter Lisa Motz (Craig), his daughter Julie Tuck (Mike) and his son Rick Roelofs (Julie), as well as his loved grandchildren, Ryan, Abbey, Jackie, Lewis, Luke and Drew. Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother Garrit and Minnie Roelofs and his sister Kay Albert. Ron spent 50 years on Lake Minnetonka and we are blessed to have so many wonderful memories of these times. He spent most of his working years in the lighting business and always took great pleasure in talking to his kids about what was happening in their work and personal lives. Not a day passed in which he didn't talk to at least one, if not all three of his kids. He loved sports and was an avid basketball player in his youth. His passion for sports continued into his adult years and he was the driving force behind the construction of the Pond Arena in Mound. In his later years, Ron loved spending time in Marco Island, Florida and enjoyed deep-sea fishing, sunsets and gathering with friends and family. A celebration of Ron's life will be held Monday, May 23rd at 4:00 p.m. at the Pond Arena in Mound. Following the service there will be a reception for people to gather and share their favorite stories. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for those wishing to contribute and will be used for a scholarship fund in Ron's name for the Mound Westonka Hockey Association and the Westonka Food Shelf / Grace Family Center (Wells Fargo, 2220 Commerce Blvd., Mound, MN 55364 / Care Of Ron Roelofs).
