Hermanson, Kevin S. "Duke" 59, died April 25, 2016, from complications of cancer surgery at North Memorial Hospital. He was born in Minneapolis on June 17, 1956 to Robert and Mary Jayne Hermanson. Kevin graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1974. A Vietnam-era veteran, Kevin served in the US Army in Germany. After his honorable discharge in 1977, he attended the University of Minne-sota and Mankato State University. In 1981, he began a distinguished career with the federal government, serving in the personnel area for the US Air Force in South Dakota; National Park Service in Yellowstone, Glacier and Isle Royale national parks; USDA; Fish and Wildlife; and the USGS in Colorado. He retired in 2009 and moved back to Brooklyn Center, MN, where he enjoyed reading, photography, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Brett Hermanson. He is survived by his sister Rev. Linda (Rev. Loren) Schumacher of Cloquet, and brother Robb (Lucy Kragness) Hermanson of Duluth; nieces and nephews Amanda Schumacher, Matt Schumacher, Laura Jean (Darryl) Isles, and Erick (Mary) Hermanson and their children, Holly and Jack. A private memorial service was held at Crystal Lake Chapel in Minneapolis.
