Beddow, Jason M. PhD Age 41 of Linwood passed away on April 14, 2016. Jason was born in Florida to Vernell and John Beddow. He earned his BS of Economics at Texas Tech University, MS at Virginia Tech and PhD at the Univ. of Minnesota. Jason was a Research Asst. Professor of Applied Economics at U of M where his research interests were focused on the spatial aspects of agriculture, and how we might better use spatial data to understand agricultural systems. His most recent award (February 2016), a Quality of Research Discovery Award, was the best paper published by AARES members in 2015. His work enabled him to travel to Australia, Africa, Europe, the Far East and South America for research purposes. Jason is survived by his wife Lucy Angelis, father John (step-mother Debbie), mother Vernell (step-father Joe Gover), sister Sean Burns and nephews, Keaton, Hayden & Collin Burns and wife's parents Jinny & John Angelis. He was preceded in death by his favorite canine hiking buddy, Obie, with whom he enjoyed hiking the Appalachian trail. Jason loved animals. He and Lucy have 2 dogs, Decker & Arlo; house cat, Sharpie, 2 horses & 2 semi-feral barn kitties on their small farm in Linwood. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM, April 20th at the pavilion at Hidden Falls Park, North. Father Richard Andrews will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jason Beddow Memorial Fund, Univ of MN Foundation, P.O. Box 860266, Minneapolis, MN 55438 OR Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Cities, in Jason's name. Direct flowers to the Cremation Society of St. Paul, MN.
