Bengtson, Neil Marvin of Pelican Rapids, MN, died September 8, 2010 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. Neil Marvin Bengtson was born March 28, 1940 to Irene and Marvin Bengtson in Hallock, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Grace Lutheran church in Hallock. Neil was active in all sports during his high school years. Many people thought he was the best athlete to come out of Kittson County. He attended college at the U of M and UND lettering in football at both colleges. He served in the Army and was stationed in Hawaii and was discharged in 1965. He finished his college education at Moorhead State. Neil started his insurance career at Federated Insurance. Later he worked as a field rep. for Ranger Insurance and General Accident Insurance Companies. He retired sold his home in Minneapolis in 2005 and moved to Pelican Lake where he has resided until his death. Neil loved life. He was passionate about travel, good food and fine wine. He was a fantastic cook and enjoyed cooking for his friends. He joined the Lion's Club last year and made many new friends. He loved this area, the people, golfing, boating and fishing. He was loved by all and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother Irene (nee Johnson), his father Marvin and his bother Robert. He is survived by his fiancée Marilyn McAllen Solie, his brother Richard (Leette), nephew Brian, niece Bethany (Brad) Douglass and Beth and Brad's children Logan, Sam and Lauren. Funeral Service will be held at the Cormorant Lutheran Church at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 13th. The Church is located at 14314 County Rd. 4, Cormorant, MN.
