Williams, Katherine Frost Age 67, of River Falls, WI passed away on February 3, 2016 surrounded by family after courageously battling cancer for 10 months while keeping her joyous spirit throughout. Born Katherine Frost Pfiffner October 10, 1948 in Stevens Point, WI to Marjorie (Frost) and Joseph Pfiffner, she attended the Wisconsin State College - Stevens Point Campus Grade School (now the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point) where her mother was the 7th and 8th Grade Math and Science Supervisor, followed by Maria (all girls) High School. During the summers after her Junior and Senior years of high school Kathy worked as a counselor at Camp Wawbeek, an Easter Seals Camp for the physically disabled near the Wisconsin Dells. It was there she met her loving husband, George, of 44 years and fostered her passion of caring for others. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Nursing in 1972 and continued on to get her OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner Certification from the Indiana University Medical School in 1974 resulting in a 43 year career in medicine. She touched hundreds of lives during her medical practice, most recently at Allina (formerly Aspen) Bandana Square Medical Clinic in St. Paul, MN. Kathy didn't just love life, she attacked it passionately with her constant positivity, enthusiasm and contagious energy that could not be matched! She was genuinely interested in and curious about everyone and everything she encountered, dedicating her life to her family and serving others in need. She loved music and the performing arts and was an accomplished musician and dancer after many years of flute, piano, violin and ballet lessons growing up. She performed in both high school and college musicals and loved attending shows. She always felt her time here was so precious that she never wanted to waste even a moment on idleness. In her "spare time" when she wasn't traveling, exploring, hiking, going to the river and lake cabins, boating, skiing (winter and summer) and shopping for bargains, she always maintained a large stock pile of projects to make sure she didn't waste any precious time. She will be greatly missed by her husband George; daughters Andrea (David) Mitchell and Larissa Williams; son George (Paige) Williams; granddaughter Josephine Mitchell; siblings Joseph Pfiffner and Patrice Shibilski; many close relatives, great friends and hundreds of grateful patients; but, she will live on through those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her and follow the tremendous example she set. The family is hosting a Celebration of Katherine's Life Open House/ Reception on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in St. Paul, MN at the University of St. Thomas Anderson Student Center's Woulfe Alumni Hall (3rd Floor Room 378 - Directions/ Maps: stthomas.edu/campusmaps/stpaul/ Parking: Anderson Parking Facility at the SW Corner of Grand Ave. and Cretin Ave). Memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek, Wisconsin Dells, WI (firstgiving.com/fundraiser/ESWcamps/…) or a similar charity of one's choice.
