Foley, Leo T. Age 87, of Coon Rapids, MN died peacefully surrounded by family on February 5, 2016. Leo served in the Navy, was a MN State Trooper for 33 years, Security Director at Unisys for 6 years, as well as Asst. Anoka County Attorney and MN State Senator for 14 years, retiring at the age of 82. He strongly believed in the importance of education and inspired many by obtaining his JD at the age of 65 and successfully running for public office later in life continuing his legacy of community service. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed travel, theater, and the outdoors. Despite his battle with Lewy Body Parkinsonism he continued giving until his very last breath. A life well lived and such an inspiration! Preceded in death by loving, first wife, Sally; brothers, Jack and Earl; sisters, Mary Schissel and Margaret. Survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn; children, Jane Doyle (Eric Hockert), Nancy (Steve) Nelson, Aaron (Renee) Nutter, and Ethan Nutter; grandchildren, Nicholas (Lauren) Nelson, Katie Doyle, Jacob Nelson, Justine, Gavin, Lauren & Henley Nutter; sister, Alice Daly, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Celebration of Leo's Life on Saturday, 2/13, 11 AM at First Congregational Church of Anoka. Visitation one hour prior. Special thanks to the caregivers at Stoney River. Memorials preferred to Lewy Body Dementia Assn, NAMI, or Nature Conservancy.
