Shultz, Dexter C. age 94, of Lakeville (formerly of Minneapolis), passed away January 20, 2016. Preceded in death by loving wife of 72 years, Violet; son, Kerry and his wife Charlene. Dexter is survived by his sister, Belva Benson; children: Georgia Olsen and Dean (Jeanie) Shultz; grandchildren: Robin (Tom) Davin, Mark (Kris) Olsen, Lori (Mike) Finney, Michelle (Clark) Camilli, Nicole (Rob) Sampson, Patrick Shultz and Mindy Shultz; also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Dexter graduated from Minneapolis Roosevelt High School in 1940 and was a long time member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church. Dexter was a B24 Pilot in World War II with the 484th Bomb Group of the Fifteenth Air Force based in Toretta, Italy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his extraordinary achievement in aerial flight during a mission on January 4, 1945, two days after his 23rd birthday. After the war, Dexter settled in Minneapolis to raise his family and worked as a carpenter. An avid outdoorsman, Dexter enjoyed riding horses, bird hunting and fishing at his cabin on Mille Lacs Lake. Dexter's family would like to thank the staff at Highview Hills for their wonderful care. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Highview Hills Senior Living Community, 20150 Highview Ave, Lakeville, MN, with a visitation 1 hour prior to service.
