Douglas West Leatherdale

Leatherdale, Douglas West Passed away peacefully December 6, 2015 on his birthday after spending the evening with family and friends. Doug was a well- known Twin Cities business man with accomplishments too numerous to list but including Chairman and CEO of the St. Paul Companies, Chairman and board member of the Minnesota Orchestra, and board member of United Healthcare. His contributions to education were many including donation of the Leatherdale Equine Center to the University of Minnesota and the Leatherdale International Polar Bear Conservation Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Doug is survived by his wife, Louise, children Mary Jo, Chris, Tim, and Tom, his sister Sharon, and 8 grandchildren. Apart from being a community leader, Doug was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed. Memorial services for Doug will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 14, at Orchestra Hall. A reception will follow directly after. Memorials in his name made to the Minnesota Orchestra are appreciated but not required.
