Abbott, Emma age 90, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully at home on October 15. Emma Christine Petersen was born in 1917 to Hans and Margrethe Petersen. She grew up in Columbia Heights, where she later met and married Sidney Abbott, her husband of nearly 70 years. The two had three children: Raymond, Jeanette and Beverly. Emma was a beautiful woman with great dignity, quiet resolve and a wonderful sense of humor. She was proud of her accomplishments as a wife and mother and loved spending time with her family. Emma was a devoted Jehovah's Witness and found comfort in the promise of everlasting life in a paradise restored on earth. Special thanks to loving caregiver Jeanne Bergerson and Karen Nelson of the North Memorial Hospice Program for helping make Emma's journey dignified and comfortable to the very end. Emma was preceded in death by sister Anna Petersen, parents Hans and Margrethe Petersen, sister Laura Underdale, daughter-in-law Karen Abbott and daughter Jeanette Peters. She is survived by loving husband Sidney; son Raymond (Anita Costello) Abbott, daughter Beverly (Randy) Allen; son-in-law Gene Peters; granddaughters Kim (Tim Sornson) Thill, Kerry (Mark) Goemer, Kelly (Josh) Moe, Amanda (Jason Bauer) Allen-Bauer, Emily Allen; and great-grandchildren Ryan, Sidney, Jacob, Olivia, Lauren, Mackenzie, Noah and Quentin. Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 16154 Central Avenue NE, Ham Lake, Minnesota.
