Peña, Matthias Jacob Age 15 of Mpls. Beloved only son of Paul & Julie Peña, died after a year long fight with depression. Brother of Laura Peña, Jane Peña and Mary Davis. Nephew to Jay and Lilly Johnson, David (Gunnar, Clara, Elinor & their mother Miyoko), Tony & Claire Peña (Anthony, Christine, Nicholas and Michael), Kimi Peña and Rob Landowski; grandson to Hiroko Jepsen, Harold & Joan Johnson (deceased) and Manny & Lynn Peña. Heartfelt gratitude to Washburn High School, our South Mpls neighborhood, and Mpls Police & Fire. We appreciate your compassion, kindness, and grace. Matthias loved the green spaces, the water, and safety of this beautiful city with a small town feel. He had many friends and was full of life, joy, and despair. We are broken: suicide is not the answer. Funeral service Saturday, 11 AM, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Ave S. Visitation Friday, 4-8 PM, Gill Brothers Southwest Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Ave S., Mpls, & 1 hour prior to service at church.
