Burton, Robert V. age 82, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully on July 7th. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, The Reverend Norma J. Burton; sons, David (wife Jan), Marc (wife Lori-jean Gille); brother, John (wife Nancy), niece Carrie Schroder, nephew Jeff Schroder and granddogs, Calhi, Cedar & Molly. Bob was born in Richmond, IL and was a combat wounded WWII veteran. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and embarked on a long and distinguished engineering career. In his more than 30 years with Honeywell, Sundstrand and Sundstrand-Sauer, he was granted 5 patents for his inventions. Bob was devoted to the YMCA and his church and after retiring, he mentored engineering students. He loved to tell of his travels to Europe, Russia and the South Pacific. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Private interment at Fort Snelling. A celebration of his life will be held at 4 PM on Friday, September 7 at Linden Hills United Church of Christ in Minneapolis. Memorials preferred to the Minneapolis Blaisdell Branch YMCA or Linden Hills United Church of Christ.
