Collier, Ronald R. age 81 of Coon Rapids, passed away on January 18, 2020 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Ron was born on May 5th, 1938 in Ida Grove, Iowa. In Dad's younger years, he was an avid golfer, bowler, trap shooter and hunter. He continued golfing on Sunday mornings until his COPD took that away. Dad loved spending time with family, he would often say "I just love sitting on the sideline listening to you kids talk." Ron is a 37 year veteran of the Federal Ammunition plant in Anoka, Minnesota where he ran one of the 3 manufacturing plants. His impact on the company is still felt. Ron is also a Veteran of the US Army, where he served until 1959 in the Philippines and Hawaii. After the military, Ron moved to Anoka, Minnesota where he met the love of his life, Dolores Sutherland, and began his career at Federal Cartridge. Ron is Preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents, John Collier and Neita levisa Siple; sister, Shirley (Doug) Brady; twin brother, Donnie and brother, Dick. He's survived by brothers, Forrest (Jettie) and John; his son, Rob (Kim); daughter, Vicki (Brad) Duax; son, Scott (Tina) and son, Kyle (Jill). Ron has 6 grandchildren, Danielle (Brad), Victor (Lacey), Rachel (Chris), Eric, Aly (Aaron) and Katie; 9 great-grandchildren, Lexus, Xalia, Chelsea, Avaya, Aiden, Caeleb, Catalina, Ava and Scarlet. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday (1/24/2020) at 11 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Ave, Anoka.
