Anderson, Lucille (Bertelson) Age 97. Lucille was the third child born into the loving home of Danish father James Christian Bertelson and Norwegian mother Lily Dagny Tollefson of Missouri Valley, Iowa, on January 9, 1922. After graduation from Missouri Valley High School, Lucille attended the University of Nebraska earning her nursing degree. She went on to work in the University of Michigan Hospital psych ward at Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1945 she married Air Force Capt. Robert (Bob) Anderson. They settled in south Minneapolis and later moved to the suburb of Mounds View remaining there for the next 64 years. Lucille was active at Community United Methodist Church, Contact (suicide crisis line), Cub Scouts, School PTA, Bible Study Fellowship, local voting poll judge, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and made a return to nursing at Crestview Nursing Home. After Bob's retirement they traveled extensively. They wintered in Port Aransas TX for 17 years, after many years visiting Rincon, MX. In their 90's they needed to downsize and moved to Walker Place senior apartments in south Minneapolis where they were happy and active participants in the social life with new friends. Lucille's desire was for her life to end in her home, and so it did, peacefully and with grace on November 28, 2019. Lucille was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 73 years, mother, father, infant sister Beverly June, brother James Eugene (Gene), sister Thordis (Sis), brother Gerald (Jerry). Lucille is survived by children Kristine (Tom) Sopoci, Robin (Joey) Anderson, Penelope (Jon Jui) Stevens, Darcy (Tom) Atterbury, 15 grandchildren, 19-1/2 great-grandchildren. Lucille leaves behind brother Jack (Eloise) Bertelson, sisters Carole (Lenus, deceased) Liljedahl, Jo Ann (Glen) Sherwood, Judy (Neil) Stessman, sister-in-law Sharon Bertelson, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
