Nelson, Walter Clair Age 88. The warmest and most decent man that so many of us were blessed to know, passed away on September 27, 2019 after a twenty year battle with Alzheimer's. We are comforted to know he is now whole and in the Lord's hands. Left to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 57 years, Carole Nelson; his children and grandchildren, Carey, Mike, Dominic, Donahue and Delaney Sauer; Mike, Colleen, Kevin, Tony and Jessica Nelson; Sue, Paul, Claire and Ali Boschee. Walt graduated from college and then served in the US Navy submarine service. After 30 years in the steel industry, Walt founded Nelson Technologies Inc, a company serving the natural gas industry. It was built on Walt's principles and continues to thrive today. Walt taught his children to rebound from challenges, create a loving home, reach further, live with integrity and - above all - love deeply with a loyalty and devotion to family that exceeds all else. His children, in return, loved him back fiercely with deep and abiding gratitude for his unwavering support and the example he set for them. In keeping with his proud Irish heritage, Walt could charm anyone with his twinklin-blue-eyes, mischievous giggle and knowing eyebrow wiggle. He never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Walt was a master storyteller but also loved learning about everyone else's lives. Special thanks to the Angels at Wealshire of Bloomington for their sweet and compassionate care of Walt. Funeral service Oct. 12 at 11:00 AM, with visitation at 10 AM. Church of St. Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. Bloomington, Memorials preferred: Alzheimer's Assn 7900 West 78th Street, Mpls MN 55439.
