TenBroek, Henry William "Bill" 85, died of natural causes on July 25, 2019. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Bryce TenBroek, sisters Carol (TenBroek) Petter and Gail (TenBroek) Andre, and a number of other relatives. Bill leaves behind his four children, Erica, Jim (Sara), Peggy Challgren (Mark), and Will (Julie Baker), and grandchildren Carly, Haley and Annika Challgren, Elizabeth and Grace TenBroek, Ben and Matt TenBroek, and Ben and Tommy Basile. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. Born October 9, 1933 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bill was the son of Evelyn Freeman and James TenBroek. Growing up in Grand Rapids, MI, Bill graduated from Ottawa Hills High School, and then the University of Michigan. Following his graduation with a Master of Science in Physics, Bill joined Honeywell Inc, in Minneapolis, a move that launched a career as an engineer that included multiple patents and scientific contributions. At Honeywell Bill moved into engineering management, and later was recruited to executive roles at several Minneapolis companies including Graco, Inc., Magnetic Controls, Inc. (ADC), and finally UMC Inc. where he served as President. Bill rejoined Honeywell as a Deputy Program Manager at Alliant Tech Systems and retired in 1996 to finish a very rewarding career. It was shortly after his arrival in Minneapolis that Bill met the love of his life, Margaret "Bryce" Loudon, on a blind date set up by one of Bryce's friends. Bryce was shocked when Bill said on a first date "I am going to marry you," which he eventually did. They were married on June 21, 1958 at Plymouth Congregational Church, the church where they would become lifelong active members. Bryce and Bill began their family in St. Louis Park, and then moved to the home they built in Edina in 1964. It was there that they raised their four children and built lifelong friendships. Bill was a terrific father to his children, who were by his side to the end. He was also a very loving husband to Bryce, her loyal partner throughout their marriage but also her teammate during her entire 35-year struggle with Parkinson's disease. Bill will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, from 5pm to 7pm at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel at 5000 W. 50th Street in Edina. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 23 at 11am at Plymouth Congregational Church 1900 Nicollet Avenue. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests memorial donations to be made to either a charity of their choice or to Plymouth Congregational Church at Plymouth.org/act/give-2/. We extend our deepest gratitude to all friends and family, Park Nicollet Hospice and employees, and those at the Masonic Home who helped Bill during his final years.
