Francis M. Taranto
Taranto, Francis M. Age 95 of Minneapolis. Born on Thanksgiving day, Nov 29, 1923 in Waltham, MA to Tony and Kate (Glynn) Taranto. He passed away on July 12, 2019. We are forever grateful for his good humor, his constant support and the way his eyes lit up whenever he saw us. Preceded in death by his wife, Kay (Cannon) Taranto, brothers, John and Pat, sisters, Anna and Catherine. Survived by children, Cathy Bunkholt, Carol (Bob) Johnson, Mark Taranto; grandchildren, Chris (John) Zimmermann, Lou and Cassy Bunkholt, Charlie (Jessi Peine) and Casey (Julie Parker) Johnson, 11 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Also survived by his favorite dancing partner, Marge Stoick. We are grateful for the many happy times they shared. Dad was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific. He retired from the Navy in 1976. After retirement, he worked into his 80s as the face of Rapid Radiator/A1 Radiator in Prior Lake. He was an active member of Everett McClay VFW, Military Order of the Cootie, St Joan of Arc Catholic Church and Mariner/Marlin Seaplane Assn. He visited every Veterans Home in MN each year to be in service to our Veterans. Dad has donated his body to the UofMN Medical School Anatomy Bequest Program. A celebration of his Life is planned for Tues, Aug 6th at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4537 3rd Ave So, Mpls MN 55419. Visitation at 10am, Mass of Christian Burial at 11am followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity is preferred. Family burial at Ft Snelling will be held at a later date.
