Egan, Antoinette "Toni" (Ziehwein) of Wayzata, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at dawn, July 3 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born June 3, 1939 in Minneapolis, she graduated from Whitefish Bay High School, WI. She earned her RN degree from the school of nursing at St. Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis, and worked for many years at Seifert's Clinic in Excelsior. Kind, caring, committed, giving, she devoted energy to many causes close to her heart. An advocate for Catholic education, she served on the Boards at Benilde-St. Margaret's and St. Bartholomew's schools. She also served in many capacities at St. Bart's, most notably the Finance Committee and Parish Council. She was active at Holy Rosary Parish and the Banyan Community. She was passionate about her work with A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation. She embraced and supported her many friends in AA. Toni was a spark of life and had a generous and supportive heart. She loved cheering her grandchildren at sporting events and hosting family gatherings. She cherished spending time at the family Crosslake home and shelling on the beaches of Captiva, FL. Toni and Ed enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed a trip to the Holy Land in 2012. Toni was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Bernadette (Hughes) Ziehwein; siblings, James Ziehwein, Linda McCormack and Matt Ziehwein. Toni is survived by her loving family: husband of 56 years, Ed; children, Maureen (Toemas) Wersinger, Kathleen (Brad) Salman, Joe (Anne) Egan, Colleen (Steve) Yockey; grandchildren, Katie, Patrick, Emma, Callum, Maddie, Ben, Olivia, Caroline, Lucy and Nick; brother, Robert (Linda) Ziehwein; Aunts, Kathy Slaughter, Marie Leadens and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. The family is so grateful for the care received in her last days at NC Little Hospice, Edina. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 5-8 PM at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave N @ Vicksburg Lane. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 12, 11 AM at the Church of St. Bartholomew, 630 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata with visitation one hour prior to Mass.
