Andrix, June Anderson Age 101, passed away on Monday May 13, 2019 at Walker Elder Care Suites in Edina, Minnesota. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank H. Andrix of Minnetonka, Minnesota and dearest friend to her late sister Betty Owens. June was born in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Martha and Wayne Anderson. Despite growing up in the Depression, she persevered and was among a small number of women to earn college degrees in the 1930s, obtaining her bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University. That determination and intellect guided her life. As a resident of Cambria, New York for many years, she was instrumental in establishing a five-town regional school to replace the many one-room schools that dominated the area. When she later moved to Minnesota, she became a member of First Christian Church of Minneapolis where she was at various times an elder, deaconess, president of Christian Women's Fellowship and active in Naomi Circle. June also found profound joy in the arts and nature. She was an avid painter who specialized in still life and who also successfully replicated some of the greats like Picasso's "Le Gourmand." She loved hiking and was also an accomplished swimmer up until near the time of her passing. She was known for her garden, which blossomed yellow, orange and pink zinnias and tomatoes that her family often ate like apples. June is survived by her children: Rosemary Palmer of Shakopee, Minnesota; Tom Andrix (Nancy) of Ashford, Connecticut; Holly Stahl (Leonard) of Englewood, Colorado; and Julia Andrix of Edina, Minnesota. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Beth Monaghan (Patrick); Joshua Andrix and his partner Abraham Cruz; April Andrix (Filko Prugo); as well as five great grandchildren: Isabelle and Clara Monaghan; and Roebling, Nedo and Luka Prugo. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Walker Elder Care Suites, 7400 York Ave S, Edina, MN 55435. The burial will be a private event for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the University of Minnesota Arboretum at 6617.thankyou4caring.org/….
