Janet Mary (Patrias) Goettl

Goettl, Janet Mary (Patrias) age 74 passed away peacefully on April 14, 2019. Janet grew up in Mankato. After high school she spent time at the Rural Parish Workers Ministry in Missouri helping children in depressed rural areas. Moving to the Twin Cities to raise her family, she also worked with developmentally challenged children before getting her teaching degree at 40. She had a great interest in meeting people of all backgrounds and always had a smile with a hug or a wave. In her later years Janet was very active in her grandchildren's activities and several Red Hat groups. Preceded in death by her parents George Sr. and Marie Patrias and brothers George Jr. and David. Survived by loving husband Mark, sons Chris (Cheryl) and Dan (Kris), grandchildren Steven, Tylor (Lexy), and Hannah, brothers Jim and Bob (Rita), sister Rosie (Paul), nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and countless friends. The family would like to thank St. Teresa Transitional Care and Arbor Lakes Senior Living for making her final months comfortable. Janet has donated her body to the U of M Anatomy Bequest Program. A private celebration of Janet's life will be held by her family. Memorials may be directed to Courage Kenny Foundation of Golden Valley or Childrens MN (Children's Hospital), two causes in which Janet believed strongly.
