Schneider, Dean S. of Golden Valley, Minnesota, age 92, passed away April 13, 2019, in his home with his fam-ily nearby. Loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, he was preceded in death by parents Charles and Annetta, sisters Marjory Allen and Irene Baylor, and brothers Chanlet and Merle. He is survived by wife Shirley, son Wayne (Lisa Friedman), daughter Sarah Carlson (Andy), grandsons Ben and Sam, and nieces and nephews. Born on the family farm outside Morning Sun, Iowa on April 1, 1927, Dean was always fond of a good April Fools' joke. He served in the Army during the Korean War before settling in the Twin Cities, graduating from Dunwoody College and then working for Northern States Power for 30 years in the System Operations department. Dean and his wife of 52 years, Shirley Ostrum, were married on Dec. 29, 1966, in a proper Minnesota snowstorm. He was a long-time member of Colonial Church of Edina, where he served as the captain of his usher team for 50 years. He was a determined and creative problem-solver who loved working with his hands, whether in the garden, under the hood of the car, or in the home if something needed to be repaired, Dean found a way to do it. Dean earned the love and respect of all who knew him, and will be greatly missed. Memorial service at 11 AM Thursday, April 25, at Colonial Church of Edina, 6200 Colonial Way, Edina, MN 55436. Memorials may be given to Colonial Church of Edina, or to Park Nicollet Hospice.
