Nelson, Marilyn "Lyn" Age 84, passed on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 at Emerald Crest of Minnetonka, MN, where she was a beloved resident for 3 years. She was born to Ruth Brandon Nelson and Harry August Nelson in Colman, South Dakota, a state she remained connected with and served for many years. After raising three children with her husband Harry Heitzman, she completed her Pharmacy Degree from the University of Wisconsin, and acted as Assistant to the Dean. Following a calling by the Lord, she completed her Masters of Divinity, and served as a United Methodist pastor in South Dakota until retirement. Beloved by many, Lyn was humble, quick to laugh, slow to judge, with unbounding heart for her family. She was blessed with three children (Michelle, Debbie, John), eight grandchildren (Adam, Chris, Dave, Erin, Joe, Danny, Carrie, Robby), and six great-grandchildren (Jack, Ellie, Norah, Walker, Jonah, and Kiteley); all of these she referred to as 'her babies'. Her daughter-in-law (Angie) and her sons-in-law (Tom and Dave) mourn the loss of a terrific mother-in-law and will miss her immeasurably. She is also survived by her brothers, Brent, and Wayne.

A memorial service is to be held on Saturday morning, July 13, at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Mausoleum on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis at 10:00 am. Flowers can be delivered the day prior.

Or, donations to the Humane Society can be made in Lyn’s  name. She was extremely fond of all four-legged furry friends, caring for several dogs and cats over the course of her life. Memorial gifts can be sent to: Donor Services, Animal Humane Society; 845 Meadow Lane; Golden Valley, MN  55422.
