Krohn, Herbert F. Herbert F. Krohn died peacefully on March 3 in Tucson, AZ with family by his side. He was 102. Herb was a unique individual whose interests were both broad and deep. He was a devoted family man, a man of sport, a successful businessman and had a love of travel. The son of Frank and Alice Krohn, Herb spent his childhood in LaGrange, IL. Upon graduating from Michigan Technological University with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Metallurgical Engineering in 1939, he enlisted in the Army and used his skills to test munitions in Fort Belvoir, VA during the War. Upon completion of his service he was hired at Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a metallurgical engineer, and transferred to Bethlehem, PA for training. It was there he met and married his first wife, Lucy Snyder, with whom he lived happily and raised 5 wonderful children until her death in 1975. Herb worked his entire career at Bethlehem Steel, rising to the post of Regional Sale Manager in the Twin Cities. Herb was an avid sportsman, passing along his love of sports to his children. He was the grandfather of 10 grandchildren, most notably Lindsey Vonn, the most decorated and successful ski racer the U.S. has produced. Herb was always positive, upbeat and looked at the bright side of all situations. His motto was "everything in moderation", which obviously served him well. He is survived by his fourth wife, Mary Woodruff Krohn; children Herbert F. (Fred) Krohn, Jr. , Randy (Kimber), Lindy (Todd Lund) and Lisa; grandchildren Seth, Kris, Mike, Max, Lindsey, Karin, Reed, Dylan, Laura and Cody. He was preceded in death by wife Lucy Snyder Krohn and son Frank Krohn (Karen).
