Gerald W. 'JP' Pierce
Pierce, Gerald W. "JP" of Coon Rapids, passed away peacefully on March 9th, his 84th birthday. Now reunited with wife Pauline (Gabel) Pierce; son, Jerry Joseph Pierce; sister, Betty Basara; parents, Earl Pierce and Cecelia Bienias; son-in-law, Roger Sheehan; many relatives and friends. He is survived by brother, Leo; children, Laurie, Tom, Cindy, Toni (Steve) Olson, Greg Oliger, Cary (Debbie), Terry (Jillaine), Sherri, Lewie, Barb (Chris) Diemer; 22 granchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gerald was born in 1935 and grew up in Nordeast Minneapolis. He enjoyed playing many sports and excelled in speed skating winning national championship and state medals, setting a speed skating record. Gerald loved to fix and paint cars, watch sports and enjoyed his profession as a bricklayer. He was a long-time member and past president of bricklayers local #2 Mpls. He has Bequest himself to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Medical Program. One of his favorite sayings was "let me teach you something" and maybe he will. He is truly loved and will be missed by his family and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Parmly On The Lake in Chisago City and the amazing hospice staff from Ecumen who helped with this difficult process. A memorial mass to be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00, Church of St. Stephen's, 525 Jackson Street, Anoka, MN 55303. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorials will be donated in Gerald's name.
