Prosser, David C. an activist, innovative and prominent Minneapolis businessman, philanthropist, and community leader died on February 24, 2019 at his home on Christmas Lake in Shorewood, Minnesota. The cause of death was heart failure. He was 94 years old. Mr. Prosser whose parents were Clare and Leah Prosser, was born in Minneapolis, MN, attended Minneapolis Southwest High School, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1947. He was Married to Margaret Feigal for 64 years, who died in 2010. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Prosser, grandson, Mason Maass; and granddaughter, Bethany Prosser. Survived by his sister, Betty Prosser of Oakland, CA; children and spouses, Daniel and Abigail Prosser, Pamela Prosser, Polly and Daniel Wolner, Thomas Prosser and Kim Fischer, John and Lisa Prosser; 14 grandchildren, Katherine Myler, Julia Maass, Bayo Snyder, Emily Snyder, Michael Wolner, Jimmy Ware, Sarah Dorn, Jordan Prosser, Desean Prosser, Gabby Prosser, Ryan Prosser, Joshua Prosser, Jonathan Prosser, Megan Prosser; 7 great-grand-children, Grace, Ella, Colton, Carter, Willow, Matt, Emma. Mr. Prosser began his career as a mechanical engineer with Green Giant Company followed by 3M Corporation until 1965, when he acquired and served as president of Vocational Placement Bureau and Task Force until 1985. He moved into the home health care industry which he merged into RTW, Inc. where until 2003 he served as Chairman and CEO. RTW transformed the workers compensation industry and Mr. Prosser took the company public in 1995. Several years later he formed and headed up RTW's American Compensation Insurance Corporation. In 1972 Mr. Prosser took an active role in the Wounded Knee trial of American Indian Movement Leader and actor Russel Means and along with Marlon Brando posting bail money for Means. In 1979 he authored 'Peel Your Own Onion' a book of personal transformation. He was a co-founder and substantial investor for over 21 years, in Haiti Outreach, which has brought sustainable clean water access to the central plateau of Haiti. The family wishes to express its appreciation to Sandra Krause for her years of service to caring for Dave through his illness. Dave was a 55+ year member of ST. LUKE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 3121 Groveland School Rd., Deephaven, MN (952-473-7378) where services will be held to celebrate his life Saturday morning March 23, 2019 at 11:00 AM with a church reception following.
