John R. Spriggs
Spriggs, John R. Age 84, passed away on March 4, 2019. He was born in Minneapolis, attended Roosevelt High School, the University of MN and Milwaukee School of Engineering. He served in the Navy on the Great Lakes from 1954-1956. He was a mechanical engineer and worked at Honeywell, Donaldson Co. and Ecolab. All his life, John was a relentless problem solver, do-it-yourselfer, and inventor. He had a strong faith in God and believed in service to others. He was preceded in death by his parents Ross and Marion and his sister Patty Monson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Wurst Spriggs and their children Ross (Laura Gentle), Margaret (Jim Hanneman), Mary, Martha (Greg Cutshall), John (Megan) and Ann Granquist (Ben). He is also survived by his sister Mary Ann Tompkins, his brother-in-law Dennis Wurst (Carol), 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is survived by many of his Roosevelt crew, the Midget Millers, whose friendship was so important to him. John was a dedicated and kind man. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Mon. March 11 at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. So. Minneapolis 55419. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Catholic Charities, Sharing and Caring Hands, and the American Lung Association. Thank you to the Pines Assisted Living and Fairview Hospice for their loving care & support.
