Froman, Steven B. 72, devoted father of two and consummate renaissance man, passed away from complications of a stroke with his children at his side on February 12, 2019 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Steven was born in Highland Park, St. Paul to Sidney and Molly Froman. He attended the University of Minnesota and received a bachelor's degree in Psychology. After graduating, Steven served for a time in the United States Air Force and then returned to the University where he continued his studies in Statistics. His next careers were no surprise given his endless store of natural talent and creative energy. After studying fine cuisine and pastry in France and Denmark, he worked as a pastry chef at several high-profile restaurants in Minneapolis, New York City, and San Francisco, where he lived for 35 years. Most importantly, as his friends and family fondly remember, even the simplest meal prepared by Steven at home was a wonder and joy because it was always infused with his limitless generosity of spirit. After leaving the restaurant business, Steven started his own business building designer furniture and prototyping for other well-known designers. In 2013, Steven took another turn, deciding to pursue a long-held ambition of being an artist and an advocate for the arts by beginning a Masters of Fine Arts at the California College of the Arts; he completed the program in 2015 with a show that combined his passions for art, design, and food. This latest shift culminated in his return to Minneapolis where he devoted his passion to the founding of an artist community there. He is predeceased by his wife Anna-Lisa Froman (née Sherlock). His legacies are many; food, design, art, and friends who truly loved his brilliance, humanity and kindness. And most of all his two dearly beloved children, Jacob and Molly, of whom he was so proud.
