Gjevre, Donald Age 80, of Edina, passed away February 12th, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents, son David and daughter Amy. Survived by wife, Caryn; sons, Stephen (Bridget), Christopher (Sheila), Jason (Nicole) and grandchildren, Alexandra, Benjamin, Sylvia and Maxwell. Don was full of life stories and spent a lot of time documenting them on his blog. He worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for almost 30 years and enjoyed working with many people that he called friends. There was a group of "telephone company" guys and occasionally their children that would gather annually at Madden's for a golf outing that he organized for quite a few years. He served in the Hennepin County Sheriff's Emergency Squad. To do so he trained as an EMT, did rescue diving and firearm safety / accuracy. He enjoyed human psychology very much and he always cared dearly for animals. Growing up he spent time on farmland and a summer helping at a ranch in Montana. In his adult life he almost always had a dog and he raised many birds over the years. He enjoyed Fishing and hunting with family and friends. Service will be held Wednesday, February 27th, at 2:00 pm with a visitation a half hour prior at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis. Reception following at Hope Church, 7132 Portland Ave. S., Richfield. Memorials preferred to be sent to mnhumane.org or Hope Church.
