Novak, Audrey Mae (née: Zappe) Age 90, passed away unexpectedly February 9th 2019. Audrey was born November 11, 1928 to Edward and Etta Zappe, in Bertha, MN. Audrey's youth was spent living in Turtle Creek Township outside of Browerville MN. Graduated from Browerville High school, spending her junior year, attending St. Paul Murray HS. A talented pianist, active in 4H, and a beautiful seamstress. Furthered her education graduating from St. Cloud Teachers College, now SCSU with a degree in Elementary Education. Met her future husband of 65+ years, John J.Novak, in college, and married July 8, 1950. Started their life together in Staples MN for 7 years, moving to Hopkins MN where Audrey lived the remainder of her life. Was proud to celebrate her 90th birthday and the ability to live independently in her home until her death. Audrey enjoyed her children, homemaking, gardening, and was a great baker, and cook. Worked selling Avon, and Dayton's part time for many years, in fine china, developing a love of dishware and crystal. Audrey was a woman of faith, active in her church, helping foster her church community. Was an avid bridge player and a member of the faculty wives bridge club for 60+ years until her death. Audrey, along with John, realized a dream of owning a family cabin and spent many wonderful summers on Fish Trap Lake near Motley MN. She traveled to Europe several times, to China, and an adventure trip, hiking Machu Picchu in Peru. Claimed she visited every state of the US, most recently hot air balloon riding, this past summer, in New Mexico. Audrey created many enduring family traditions, and memorable, thoughtful, and joyful family celebrations. Her parents, her husband, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, precede her in death. She lovingly leaves behind her children, Susan (Frederick) Kaiser, Deborah (Gregory) Daigle, Mary Jonette Novak, John (Vicki) Novak, Julie Novak, Lisa Christensen, and Michael (Jennifer) Novak. 12 grandchildren: Andrew(Brooke)Kaiser; Gregory(Angela) Matthew(Megan) Timothy(Nancy)Daigle; Samantha and John Novak; John, Ryan and Hope Christensen; Connor, Carter and Luke Novak. 9 great-grandchildren: Weston and Hayden Kaiser; Sabine and Maxwell, Sophia, Madison and George, Emma and Henry Daigle. She is also survived by her brother Edward "Bill"(Mary) Zappe and brother-in-law M. Kenneth (Joan) Novak and cousins, nieces, and nephews. Visitation March 13th, 5-8PM Washburn-McReavy, Hopkins Chapel, 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins MN. Funeral March 14th, 11:00am, St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, St. Joseph Campus, 1310 Mainstreet, Hopkins. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Luncheon after service, with interment immediately following at St. Margaret's Cemetery. Audrey taught us how to live, love, respect, and appreciate each other. We will live our lives honoring her lessons and her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
