Polanski, Joseph John "Joe" 88 of Minneapolis passed away peacefully at his home on January 1st, 2019 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn; children, Greg (Yvonne), Jeanette (Bill), Daniel (Raechel), Michael, and David (Cary); grandchildren, Jared, Joshua, Amanda, Harrison, Maddie, Jacob, Adam, Hans, Luke, Leah, and Colton; siblings, Vicky, Bernard, Edward (Lucy) and Wanda; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Anton and Lillian Polanski; siblings, Odelia, Fred, Vera, Adolph, Anne and Ted. Joe was born July 2nd, 1930 at Kellieher, Saskatchewan, Canada. He grew up at Grande Point, Manitoba. In 1960, he moved to Minneapolis. In 1967, he became a U.S. citizen. Joe's vivacious personality and love for entertaining others helped him throughout his thirty years working in real estate. Outside of work, Joe loved to garden and cook. He also enjoyed hunting down wild mushrooms which he'd bring home to the kitchen. He had a natural curiosity and love for languages which he shared over family dinners through his exclamations of how good the food was in Polish and Spanish. Funeral services will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave S. Minneapolis, on Monday, January 7th with visitation at 10 am and funeral Mass at 11 followed by a luncheon with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mpls.
