Stomberg, Carlotta beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, volunteer, nurse, sister, and friend, passed away December 7, 2018 in Saint Paul. She was born Carlotta Ann Olson on April 1, 1948, to Ansel and Ruth (Liimatta) Olson. The eldest of eight children, she graduated Menahga HS in 1966, then St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Minneapolis. She married Donald Stomberg on June 14, 1969, on the grounds of her parents' farm just outside Hillview, Minnesota. They lived first in Columbia Heights, then purchased their home in Spring Lake Park where they raised two sons of their own, two exchange students whom they considered sons, and always kept the door open for their children's friends (whether or not the boys were home). She worked first in private practice, then Unity Hospital, and after that became Head Nurse at the Group Health clinic in Spring Lake Park. After a stint with American Family Insurance, she got back into medicine with Allina at Abbott Northwestern Hospital until she retired in June of 2017. She served on the Spring Lake Park School Board for many years, and also found a calling volunteering with the Michael Servetus Unitarian Society in Fridley. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Donald; her mother Ruth, and her favorite little brother Donnie. She is survived by her father Ansel, her (great) aunt and uncle Arlene and Russ, her sons Jeremy (Amy) and Stephan (Kate), both of Saint Paul; Paulo Sartor of Brazil and Tolga Dorken of Turkey, grandchildren Kieran, Moira, and Cillian; cousin Roxie, her best friend since childhood Rose, very special neighbors and friends Bette and Lori Nelson, and six surviving siblings. A public visitation on Friday 1/11 from 5-8pm at Washurn-McReavy Coon Rapids Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids, Blvd. A public memorial will be held on Saturday, January 12 at 1:00pm at the Heights Theater, 3951 Central Avenue, Columbia Heights - the location of many movies spent holding hands with Don, as well as Jeremy and Amy's wedding.
