Samuelson (Asher), Charlotte Ann 8-12-1945 to 12-8-2018 Charlotte Ann Samuelson, age 73, currently residing in Moor head, MN, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2018 at Farmstead Care in the presence of family. Born August 12, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Warren Asher and Annabelle (Williams, Asher) Jamison. Charlotte "Char" resided in and around St. Paul, Minnesota, for 70 years living in St. Paul, Forest Lake, St. Francis, and New Brighton where she remained for 29 years. She graduated from Harding High School and earned her R.N. degree from the Arthur B. Anker Memorial School of Nursing. Later in life she earned her B.S. in Human Services at Metro State University, license in long term care from the University of Minnesota, and M.A. from United Theological Seminary. Charlotte served within the health care system in Minnesota throughout her career working as a Staff Nurse, Long Term Care Administrator, Associate Hospital Administrator and as a Senior Consultant. Charlotte loved Jesus, her family, and her community. Char was a member of Salem Covenant Church in New Brighton for 28 years. She was devoted to serving the Lord. Char was a Rotarian and was committed to the City of New Brighton serving on the city council for 16 years. Char was passionate about her state, elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives for District 50B in 2002, and served 2 terms where she fought to increase healthcare access, maintain education funding, and bring high tech jobs to her district. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gerald Carl Samuelson; along with her daughters, Beth (Kevin) Jansen of Moorhead Minnesota, Sandra Hovland of Fargo, North Dakota; 3 grandchildren, Samuel Hovland, Sarah Jansen and Kelsey Jansen; two brothers, James (Betty) Asher of Minnesota and John (Diane) Asher of Iowa; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. Char was a fighter battling Parkinson's disease for over 15 years. The disease did not define her or stop her from continuing to serve others. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Char at 11:00 am (10 am visiting hour), Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at Salem Covenant Church, 2655 5th Street NW, New Brighton, Minnesota.
