Anderson, Janice (Archerd) Passed away November 27, 2018. Age 85. Jan had a distinguished career in the arts. For ten years she coordinated arrangements for the Minneapolis Institute of Arts special events. The widely diversified programs at times attracted up to 1,000 attendees. Jan received continuous praise for the success of these events. In addition to special events, she organized close to fifty annual ongoing programs. Jan also worked with the Friends of the Institute and the Mpls. Society of Fine Arts for their events. Jan ended her career working at the Basilica of St. Mary for ten years, where she coordinated cultural events such as major concerts and speakers program. In addition, she represented the church in community projects. She received an award for her work on "An Evening with Dave Brubeck" concert at Orchestra Hall to support a Jewish-Christian Learning Center. Her many volunteer activities include several years at The First Universalist Church, where she served a term as Arts Committee Chair. Jan is survived by husband Larry; daughter Elizabeth Archerd (Richard Zajicek); grandson Michael Zajicek (Mary Beth Kehrwald); sister Sandra Weinberg; brother John Snell (Tina); step-children Margaret, Bradley and Scott Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held for family and friends at The First Universalist Church, 3400 Dupont Ave. So., Minneapolis, on Saturday, December 15, from 1-3 p.m. A brief program will be held at 2 p.m. Memorials to Heifer International or charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
