Dolan, Daniel Francis 91 of Woodbury, MN. Passed away on November 24, 2018. Loving Husband, Father, Papa and Friend. Dan was born on a farm near Milroy, MN to Francis and Mary Stella (O'Connell) Dolan. After graduating from Milroy High School, he was drafted into the Army in 1945. He graduated from the College of St. Thomas in 1951, where he participated in baseball and football. He was especially proud of his state amateur baseball's all-time strikeout king record, as having 23 strikeouts in a nine-inning game in 1947 playing for Milroy over Sanborn. He worked for the FBI from 1951-1953 in Boston where he worked on the Brinks Robbery Case and Washington D.C. in 1953 he returned to St. Paul where he joined the IBM Corporation as a salesman. He was an IBM manager in Duluth, Chicago, Rockford and back to St. Paul until 1963. He then began his real estate career with H. and Val J. Rothschild Co. and in 1966 he started his own real estate firm, Dan Dolan Realtors. He later started Dan Dolan Development and was involved in the sales and development of commercial and residential properties, including his first developments Evergreen of Woodbury and Oakdale Crossing Business Park. Always looking for new Ideas he got involved in restaurant franchises, Mr. Steak, Hardee's and Damon's. He was involved in real estate for 55 years, only retiring in 2018. He was inducted into the Minnesota Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2015. Dan was always very involved in the community; the Jaycees, March of Dimes, United Way and fundraising for College of St. Thomas. He was on the boards of St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, North Oaks Golf Club, St. Paul Seminary, Derham Hall High School, and Home of the Good Shepherd. He was very active in the St. Paul Winter Carnival, as Prime Minister 1966, General Chairman 1971, King Boreas 1978. He was also Honorary Irishman "Mr. Pat" in 1996 in the St. Paul St. Patrick's Day parade. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tom, sister & brother -in-law, Sara Flanagan (Ed), sister Margaret, and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Dolan, Susan Dolan, Suzanne Dorle Adair, Barbara Dorle and Elizabeth Dorle . He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joan (nee: Dorle), proud father of Steve (Peggy), Mike (Lisa), Tom (Jennifer), Molly Bird (Jim), Nancy Ingham (Jeff). Loving papa of Nick (Erica) Johnson, Katie, Louie, Peter, Michael, Meghan, Danny Dolan, Connor and Porter Ingham; great grandsons Jaxson, and Joseph Johnson, brothers, Francis "Steve" and John "Doc", brothers-in-law Michael (Paula) Dorle and David (Sandy) Dorle . His greatest love was his family, his love of golf, hunting, and fishing, flying his airplane and his yellow lab, Nellie. He was proud of his 100% Irish Heritage. Visitation Wednesday November 28th, 2018 4:00-8:00 PM at O' Halloran & Murphy, 8700 Valley Creek Rd., Woodbury. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM Thursday November 29th, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr. Visitation 1 hour prior at the church. Private family interment at Resurrection Cemetery following luncheon.
