Muriel Avery

Avery, Muriel Age 92 of Minneapolis passed away Nov. 21, 2018. Muriel was born Sept. 9, 1926 to Norwegian immigrant parents, Mary and Gilbert Mogen, in Hayfield, MN. She spent her years growing up in Hayfield and Austin, MN before receiving a Bachelor's degree from the University of MN. Following graduation, she took post grad courses in Library Science at the U of M and earned a certificate in Underwriting. Muriel worked as an Assistant to Director of Women's Residence at the U of M before becoming an Underwriter at Sons of Norway and Northwestern National Life. She spent her retirement years as a part time consultant for Sons of Norway and then as a volunteer at Life Line at Methodist Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Avery. Muriel is survived by daughter, Geraldine McCann (J.D.); grandchildren, Pauline, Tim (Rachel), Brenna (Jesse), and Emily (Kyle); great grandchildren, Kyra, Phoebe, Hazel, Isaac, and Olivia. Funeral Service 11 AM on Monday Nov. 26, 2018 at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel with visitation one hour prior. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
