Johnson, Paul Edward May 27, 1941 October 24, 2018 Died at North memorial Hospital from sudden complications of bypass surgery. Survived by wife of 47 years, Rita; son, Mark (Shelly) of Spring Green, WI; daughter, Robyn (Sean) Wenham of Eden Prairie, MN; 9 beloved grandchildren, Carlin, Bryn, and Eily Johnson, Ava, Ewan, Liam and Arabella Hupka and Rosabella, Ridge Wenham. Preceded in death by parents, Theodore and Beatrice (Bierman) Johnson. Life long resident of the Twin Cities, growing up in Deephaven where he spent his childhood fishing Lake Minnetonka with his father. Paul graduated Minnetonka HS and U of M. Started career in Madison, WI at Oscar Mayer and came to Honeywell in the mid 1960's where he completed his career. Besides his family, Paul's passion was the sport of bowling. After knee injuries sidelined him from basketball and baseball, he discovered bowling. Working his way through college at the newly built Aqua Bowl in Minnetonka, his natural athletic ability turned a recreational activity into a highly competitive sport. Tournament bowling was a highlight of his Fall and Winter. He actively competed until a neck injury prevented him from continuing. He was very honored and proud to have been inducted into the Minneapolis Bowling Hall of Fame in the category of Superior Performance. In the 1970's Paul and his wife were proprietors of Country Club Lanes in Excelsior. There will be a private family interment at Groveland Cemetery at a later date.
