Hays, Marilyn Rose (nee Mihelcic) Age 88 of Mendota Heights, MN is reunited with her parents, John and Rose; husbands, LeRoy and Alfred; brother, John with our Lord Jesus on October 13, 2018. Survived by daughter, Jennifer (Chris); son, Sean (Paula); grandchildren, Logan, Connor, Amye, Ryan, Zakk; great-grandchildren, Carson, Zoie; great great-grandchildren, Aiyden and Aryia; sister-in-law, Agnes; nieces Jean (John), Marian; grand nieces Catherine, Elizabeth, Christine, Erin; nephews, Jim (Karen), John and Joe (Barb). Marilyn was born in Ely, MN on April 26, 1930. She graduated with high honors from Ely High School as salutatorian. She attended Ely Junior College before transferring to the Nursing School at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. After earning her RN degree she joined the Santa Fe Railroad as a nurse. She was one of the first nurses to travel across the country on the train. Marilyn taught nursing at South Dakota State University for many years. She worked at St. Luke's and St. Joseph's in St. Paul, MN as an RN, eventually settling at United Hospital where she spent over 20 years as a nurse educator. Marilyn was an avid reader, traveler, writer and story teller. She loved her family and friends fiercely. She deeply enjoyed the arts, music, dance, and theater. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and volunteered many, many hours at her long time parish St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mendota. Marilyn loved her two children Sean and Jennifer more than anything in this world, and we'll miss her dearly. Many thanks and appreciation to her caregivers Paula, Theo, Natalie, Ryan and Carson. Without them we would not have been able to keep her in her home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. (visitation 10-11 a.m.) Friday, October 26 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1405 Sibley Memorial Hwy, St Paul, MN 55150. Interment at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery.
