Armstrong, Ruth G. age 85 of St. Paul, died October 1, 2018 at Episcopal Church Home. Preceded by parents Carrie and JM Gross and brother Donald Gross. Survived by children Rebecca (Robert), Patty, Susan (Garry) and Tom (Angela), plus six beloved grandsons, Sam, Harry (Olivia), Charlie, Kyle, Carson and Stephen. Born in Byron, MN and raised in Rochester, she made St. Paul her home to raise her family. She graduated with an MA in English from the University of Minnesota and taught freshman English. After retiring from Montgomery Ward, she delighted in travels to Europe, Asia and Africa and never lost her passion for learning. She then found joy teaching ELL students at the Hubb Center. She also was a dedicated member of the League of Women Voters. A memorial gathering is planned for October 20, 4:30 pm at the Commodore Hotel in St. Paul, where she lived happily for 25 years. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to your favorite charity would be preferred.
