Greenberg, Bayle A. The extraordinary life of Bayle Greenberg ended on September 22, 2018 after 94 remarkable years. Born Bayle Ann Zurovsky in Duluth in 1924, Bayle was a woman ahead of her time, achieving great success that was virtually unheard of for a young Jewish woman in northern Minnesota in that era. Bayle attended the U of M, majoring in Journalism, graduated in three years and earned both Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1949, she married Emerson Greenberg, the love of her life, and embarked on a 54 year marriage of love and devotion until Em's death in 2003. They raised three boys who were her proudest achievement; all three were lavished with the love and counsel that have made them successful in life. After college, Bayle undertook many challenges and excelled at each: editor of the Crosby Courier newspaper, co-owner of Chance Incorporated (a PR firm), PR person for the Nicollet Hotel, lead copywriter for Jaffee Advertising writing copy for the Minneapolis Lakers before they moved to LA and head of the news office at the U of M, just to name a few. In the 1970's, Bayle and a friend started the Tidepool Gallery at 50th and France, selling all manner of shells and products relating to the sea. She owned the Tidepool for more than 18 years, until an illness in 1990 forced her to retire. Bayle and Emerson were members of Temple Israel for nearly 70 years, where Bayle was an active member of the Sisterhood. She was also a member of Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women. Bayle's limitless kindness was her hallmark and she was known to be one the most generous people you would ever hope to meet. She often repeated that "Kindness to others is the most important thing in life". Bayle is survived by her sons, Bill (Arlyn Roffman), Mike, and Chuck (Lauri); grandchildren, Tom Greenberg ( Lauren ), Norman Greenberg ( Sherry Van Slyke) and Alissa Greenberg; along with her great- grandchildren, Simon, Violet and Noah Greenberg, Halle Peterson and Laney Peterson. She was preceded in death by Emerson; sister, Ferne Grosmann; brother, Alvin Zurovsky; and her beloved daugher-in-law, Barbara Greenberg. Funeral services 11:00 AM THURSDAY at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2323 Fremont Ave So, Minneapolis. SHIVA Thursday evening 7:00 pm at Roitenberg Assisted Living Center, 3610 Phillips Parkway, St. Louis Park.
