Washburn, Francis J. "Fran" 80, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 surrounded by his family.Fran was born in Rochester, MN on May 11, 1938 to Francis C. and Myrtle (Mourning) Washburn. He graduated from Rochester High School and then the U of MN. While in Dental School, he met the love of his life, Katherine Anderson, and they were married on July 14, 1962. After serving in the U.S. Air Force (Newfoundland Canada), he and Kathy moved to Rochester where Fran started the 12th Street Dental Office. He truly enjoyed working alongside his staff and appreciated all his patients over the years. He practiced dentistry from 1965 until 1994. Fran served as both the President and Secretary of the SE District Dental Society and was very active in the Zumbro Valley Dental Society. He was a board member of the YMCA and active with the Boys Scouts. When not filling teeth, he enjoyed spoiling the three women he fiercely loved, playing golf, fishing, tying flies, bowling, and woodworking. He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy; parents, Francis and Myrtle; and an infant brother. He is survived by his two daughters, Kristin (Gregg) Gabriel, Joelle (Leif) Syverson; sister, Janet (Jim) Lang; step-mother, Beverly Washburn; step-sisters, Holly (Vern) Larkin, and Kelly King; five grandchildren, Ryan and Kevin Gabriel, Ellyse (Ryan) Ness, Elliot and Aaron Syverson; four nieces and two nephews. He also had a brother, Henry Washburn. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20th at Autumn Ridge Church in Rochester with visitation one hour prior.
